Fruit

Fruit has been grown at Fiveways Fruit Farm since the 1930’s when David Mead, the father of the present growers Julian and Alistair planted apple trees. Apples were the only fruit grown for many years until the 1970’s when 3 acres of strawberries were planted as a Pick Your Own crop close to the farm buildings.

Soft fruit production increased in the 1980’s and 90’s assisted by an expansion in protected cropping under tunnels. All soft fruit is now grown under polythene. In the last 15 years the farm has diversified further into cherries, plums and asparagus.
